The Case of Irene:

 “When Is Psychoanalysis Too MUCH Psychoanalysis”

We are pleased to welcome Ginny Rachmani who will be presenting the case of her 90 year old, intellectually gifted and physically healthy patient who is 8 years into her fourth analysis.   Facets of treatment explored are Irene’s lifelong somatizing and her inability to integrate true and false self-experiences. CSPP members and analysts George Hagman and Jim Galloway will be responding to the case material from the perspectives of Self Psychology and Object Relations Theory according to Wilfred Bion.


Ginny Rachmani LCSW studied at the American Institute for Psychoanalysis (AIP) and the four-year program at The Training and Research Institute for Self Psychology (TRISP) from which she earned her psychoanalytic certificate. Ginny is currently a supervising analyst/faculty member at The National Institute for Psychotherapies (NIP) and at AIP; she has presented psychoanalytic papers in the US and internationally and maintains a private practice in Manhattan.
