Fairfield County Film Club:

Psychoanalysis at the Movies

2020 Fall Meeting

Held via Zoom

Sunday, September 27, 2020

11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

 “I Am Not Your Negro”

Academy Award Nominee

Directed by Raoul Peck

Raoul Peck’s outstanding, Oscar-nominated documentary is about the African American activist and author James Baldwin, author of Go Tell It on the Mountain and The Fire Next Time. Peck dramatizes Baldwin’s unfinished manuscript Remember This House, his personal memoir of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr and civil rights activist Medgar Evers. Baldwin re-emerges as a devastatingly eloquent speaker and public intellectual.

Matt Zoller Seitz in his review says about the film: “It is also an unusual and striking cinematic biography with a specific mission: to show America through the eyes of an African-American, scattering shreds of hope amid horror, exasperation and disgust.”

The movie is available on Amazon Prime and streaming services and on DVD and Blue Ray. Please view the film before the meeting.
